For an avulsed tooth with closed apices, it is recommended that the tooth undergoes elective root canal treatment. We however\npresent in this case report a 73-year-old Afro-Caribbean lady, with an asymptomatic, untreated, self-replanted lower left canine\nwhich suffered an avulsion 45 years ago. The patient reported no loss of function. This case illustrates the potentially positive\noutcome of a replanted, non-root-treated, avulsed closed-apex tooth while highlighting the significance of patient-related factors....
Objective. Study the effect of quality control circle (QCC) in promoting the usage of rubber dams (RD) in root canal treatment of\nchronic pulpitis in primary teeth. Methods. Set up a quality control group to increase the amount of rubber dams used in the\ntreatment of chronic pulpitis in primary teeth. Monthly monitoring results of the usage amount were counted by the outpatient\ncomputer system. Relevant data were collected through questionnaires, and causes of low utilization were analyzed, and the\nimprovement measurements were formulated and implemented. Quality control circle activity was evaluated. Results. Through\nthe quality control circle activity, the consumption of rubber dams in the root canal treatment of chronic pulpitis was\nsignificantly improved, children in treatment became more cooperative, and operation time of root canal treatment has also\nbeen shortened. Conclusion. The quality control circle activities played a significant role in promoting the use of rubber dams in\nthe root canal treatment of primary teeth, and it can be used as a method to promote new clinical treatment programs....
This case study concerns a patient who had lost all of his teeth, needing a rehabilitation with total prosthesis, who went to the dentist looking for help to overcome psycho-physical trauma and to overcome functional and social problems related to being a prosthesis wearer. Tooth loss occurs most in old age, even if it is not a direct consequence of aging. The rehabilitation of oral functions allows the patient to speak, chew, smile and feel confident in his own aesthetics and therefore improve, even a lot, his well-being in social relations. It is very important in oral rehabilitations to evaluate their type and therapeutic timing. This study stems from the idealization of a new protocol to simplify the supported oral rehabilitations. In this manuscript, a patient was considered and shown according to a complete photographical documentation all the phases. Rehabilitation included the use of Osstem (Osstem, Seoul, Korea) and equator type abutments (Rhein83, Bologna, Italy). This manuscript claims to represent the first of a whole series of cases demonstrating the utility of this protocol....
An implant-supported crown represents an established and validated option for single-tooth replacement; however, a\nrestorative solution should be selected according to a wide number of factors including patientâ??s desire, expectations,\nspecific clinical conditions, and financial possibilities. The aim of this case report is to describe a conservative rehabilitation\nstrategy for the replacement of a periodontally compromised mandibular incisor: the extracted natural tooth was used as a\npontic bonded to adjacent elements with polyethylene fiber and resin composite. This way, a chairside fabrication of a\nresin-bonded fiber-reinforced prosthesis is possible, using the patientâ??s own tooth. After showing a satisfactory functional\nand esthetic result, advantages and pitfalls of this technique along with available data on the literature regarding the natural\ntooth pontic are addressed. Both patients and clinicians should be aware of minimally invasive, successful solutions for\nsingle-tooth replacement; whether indicated or necessary, the natural tooth pontic technique leaves open other treatment\noptions for the future....
The regenerative endodontic procedure (REP) is considered a viable treatment option for immature teeth with necrotic pulp and\nperiapical radiolucency which can facilitate continued root formation. In this report, an immature necrotic mandibular molar\nreceived REP in three appointments wherein chemomechanical debridement was performed with a sequential application of\nnonsetting calcium hydroxide (in the whole canal) and triple antibiotics paste (in the rootâ??s middle third) dressings in the first\nand second appointments, respectively. In the third appointment, blood clots were created in the root canals. MTA was placed\nover the blood clots and the tooth was restored with a composite filling and stainless-steel crown. Recall appointments were\nperformed for two years where the tooth was deemed asymptomatic clinically and a complete root formation with significant\nperiapical healing was evident radiographically. More cases are required to warrant the feasibility of this disinfection protocol....
Tooth extraction causes major changes to the ridge, rendering implant placement a more challenging procedure. Proper\nmanagement of the socket is necessary to ensure sufficient bone and soft tissue for a successful implant-supported prosthesis.\nThis article presents a practical approach for autologous hard and soft tissue grafting. A soft and hard tissue graft is harvested in\none piece from the maxillary tuberosity and stabilized in the extraction socket....
